Meaning: In the movie, there are characters called the Oompa Loompa’s who live and work in the chocolate factory. Every time a bad child was kicked out, they would sing a song about the child’s fault/weakness, and they would end with the above phrase.

Here’s a sample of the lyrics:

Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da
If you're not greedy, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do

Question: But God not all the bad children in the movie were rich. What do you really mean when you say “one who is rich”?

God’s answer:

Worldly

Question: You said that both good deeds and faith matter. Where in this analogy does it show faith?

God’s answer:

He was willing to learn

Meaning: In the movie, the little boy Charlie was just not good but displayed an eagerness to learn from Willy Wonka and a faith that what Willy Wonka is saying is true, where the other children and their accompanying parents would often try to ridicule or disprove Willy Wonka’s explanations.

Similarly, when Jesus said: ”if you want to be perfect, then come follow Me”, following Jesus is a learning experience which requires us to believe and trust that He is the way, the truth and the life. If you go back to the Chapter: The Purpose, Life and Death of Jesus Christ, the reason God gave as to why he chose the 12 apostles is because “They were eager to learn from Me.”.

Question: Just out of curiosity, why did you choose the Willy Wonka movie (original 1971 version) as an analogy? I love the original movie but the character of Willy Wonka (played by Gene Wilder) was eccentric. By using the children in the movie to symbolize us... then, are you not also using Willy Wonka to symbolize you?

God’s answer:

I was different.
Why do you think they crucified Me?

Meaning: Jesus was always at odds with the Pharisees because He was a nonconformist.
